How to change a rear parking sensor

Postby hallai » Thu Dec 27, 2018 1:32 am

Just wondered if anyone knows how to replace the rear parking sensor housing on the INSIDE of the bumper.

Do I have to take the bumper off or can I get to it without the hassle?

FYI the one I need to re-fit (as i seem to have knocked the original one off, er... whilst reversing..!) is the inside right as you are looking at the back of the vehicle-if that makes any difference to anything...??

You should be able to just twist it off from inside the bumper - the plastic housing is attached to the actual sensor - by sticking your hand up inside (oo-er missus!). If I remember correctly - I have done the same as you! - it is not the easiest operation in the world, and you might need to replace the plastic on the outside of the bumper as it is that that actually holds the sensor in place. But no need to remove the bumper

Thanks SP. Its the number 6 part that I have lost and the sensor is just hanging! I've shoved it up there (oo-er missus) into the bumper for the time being so its not just...er... swinging in the air.... (oh for the love of god man, STOP it!!-sorry ) but will look at it as soon as I've got some time!

part number 6 costs about £2 at the dealer, and for some reason I've always found them in stock! Make sure you get the correct part though as 6 and 8 are very slightly different.
