Confused on Routing Tables

Postby mmccann » Thu Sep 12, 2013 9:03 pm

Very nice site. Thanks for the very good study guides.
Going through the labs and am confused by the Best Route Determination Exercises.
Question #2 - Ip = 77.123.14.107. Why isn't this route even a possibility?
O 77.123.14.100/30 [110/49] via 192.168.3.1, 00:00:01, Ethernet2
I thought the process was to look for best prefix, then metric (for same protocols) then AD.
This route has the same prefix as the other two /30s, and has a better AD. What did I miss?

thanks
Mike

Ahh, just realized what I missed. 77.123.14.100/30 is not on the same net as 77.123.14.107.

But, now I have another question -
For question #3 - there is a statement in the route table:
158.80.0.0/16 is variably subnetted, 10 subnets, 6 masks
why do some subnetted routes appear under this statement with net addresses of 158.79.x.x and 158.76.x.x? These are on another major network aren't they?

thanks
Mike

Thank you.
Many peoples have decided to do something on their own and few started on https://www.wizessay.com/research-paper ... g-service/ which are both better in many terms though so let me know more likely that is even legit?
