Vrf !!!why do we use it!!!do Mpls need vrf !!!

I am new to MPLs and our company is implementing it on existing network. I have no basic knowledge of MPLs and they kind of briefed us on it . It was mixture of vrf/bgp mp- bgp did not understand it so any help will be helpfull. Thanks Singh

Hello Baljinder,

No need to do any configuration in CE router ( customer router). The MPLS routers will be managed by Service provider. SP will redistribute your routes in there PE( provider router) router and assigned label to the packet.

The MPLS router configuration provides high performance mechanism that directs data from one node to another node based on short path labels. this avoids complex look ups in the routing tables. MPLS supports a range of access technologies, including T1/E1, ATM, Frame Relay, and DSL.
